Engine Oil Treatment
The Conklin brand engine oil and oil additive increases the longevity of your engine and increases performance and durability. TKO® extends the life of your engine oil by about 4 times its original life simply by adding it to your oil changes. If you switch to Conklin oil, it already includes the TKO® components and does not require additional TKO® Engine Oil Treatment. You can find more information on these products in the TKO® Engine Oil Treatment “read more” section following the customer testimonial below.
TKO® Engine Oil Treatment

TKO® Advanced Performance is a new formulation that fortifies conventional and most synthetic, semi-synthetic, and parasynthetic engine oils to improve their durability and performance up to 4 times its original life. It may be used with both gasoline and diesel engine oils.
Conklin brand oils and the Conklin oil additive (TKO) are engineered to reduce oxidation and decrease friction throughout your engine. Conklin brand oil is also engineered to maintain superior levels of lubricating stability of 3 to 4 times greater than its competitors. Imagine changing oil every 35,000 miles instead of every 3,000 to 10,000 miles.
“I am working with a mechanic who is in charge of a fleet garage. He began using TKO and implementing extended oil change intervals…
With the aid of oil analysis, he was able to double the trucks’ oil change intervals. The fleet now uses TKO in every truck, with several trucks having passed the million-mile mark without any engine overhauls. After experiencing such great results with TKO, the garage began using 4-Power D Diesel Fuel System Cleaner. It was less expensive and had even better results than the product the garage had previously used” – Ken B., Pennsylvania
There are many other individuals with similar success stories related to Conklin’s TKO. Most of us don’t know the engineering behind this product, but we know it’s working when vehicles are crossing the million-mile mark. Conklin has been around for over 50 years and had plenty of time to test their products in real-time, but we will discuss three main technical reasons this product works in the following paragraphs.
Shear stability, oxidation control, and aeration control are the three key factors that get your engine past the million-mile drive. TKO® Advanced Performance is an additive that can be used in most engine oils that achieves the following results.
Shear stability, is the oil’s resistance to viscosity loss. The loss of viscosity occurs when the long chains of molecules and polymers are broken or cut by pistons, rings, crankshafts, bearings, camshafts, or any other metal that has extreme force inside your engine where the oil travels through. When this occurs, engine oil becomes thinner, and the loss of viscosity causes higher oil consumption or loss of oil through openings caused by wear. Conklin brand oils are engineered to maintain higher viscosity which helps to seal off around cylinder walls and other areas susceptible to wear. Conklin oil (CK4) has great resistance to viscosity loss.
Oil oxidation is referring to a chemical reaction that occurs when combining lubricating oil and oxygen. Anytime we are running our engine, there are weights on the crankshaft that dip down into the oil pan and splash oil around to keep the crankshaft, pistons, and camshaft, lubricated. Anytime these parts are moving there is an opportunity to allow air to mix with the oil. And the rate of oxidation is accelerated by high temperatures, water, acids, and catalysts such as copper. Newer engines are built smaller and which requires them to work harder and tend to run hotter and under higher pressure. And every 10 degrees has a significant increase in oxidation. We get water in our engines every time we turn off our engines through condensation. Acid is built up through gasoline and diesel fuel. And heat is a catalyst that speeds oxidation which increases internal wear of your engine. It also causes varnish buildup which decreases engine life and reduces power. 4-Power and Fuel Mate Plus will keep your engine clean. And Conklin’s TKO and Convoy oil is stable and maintains viscosity which reduces oxidation issues.
Aeration control is referring to the entrapment of air bubbles within the engine oil. When oil is splashed by the weights on the crankshaft it allows air to mix with the oil. If you take a object and whip it into a bucket of oil, you can see this with your own eyes. When the oil with those bubbles that are created by the crankshaft are mixed with high heat, this causes oxidation and decreases engine life tremendously. This air also reduces the ability of the oil to cool.
Those three (shear stability, oxidation control, and aeration control) qualities of Conklin’s oil and TKO are the life savers of your engine. There are many individuals that broke through the idea that vehicles with over 200,000 miles are ready to put out to pasture. We invite you to join the great journey of saving your money and your engines.

Prepaid Oil Sample Bottle

Oil analysis is the key to extending drain intervals and providing pertinent information about oil and engine condition for family vehicles, farm equipment, and over-the-road trucks. Protect vehicles and equipment through regular oil testing. Submit your oil sample using the Prepaid Oil Sample Bottle as well as the Oil Sampling Pump & Instruction Sheet and specialized plastic tubing (sold separately) for complete oil analysis.
We have included the instructions on how to use this kit in the read more section below…
How do I take an oil sample?
Oil analysis is the key to extending drain intervals and providing pertinent information about oil and engine condition for family vehicles, farm equipment, and over-the-road trucks. Protect vehicles and equipment by performing regular oil testing. Submit your oil sample for complete oil analysis.
Conklin recommends an oil analysis before extending oil change intervals. Follow the steps below to determine optimal intervals:
- First, you need to purchase the Prepaid Oil Analysis Bottle and the Oil Sampling Pump & Instruction Sheet from Conklin. (It is best to sample the oil when it’s warm.)
- After putting the oil sample in the bottle, you use the mailer to send it to the testing facility.
- Change oil filter and take a sample of the oil at every recommended drain period.
- Change the oil when the oil analysis report states that it needs changed.
- Once you determine the baseline for oil drain interval, you may not need to sample the oil at every recommended drain interval.
- Always change filter at every recommended drain interval.
- Oil filters must be changed according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
Conklin Oil Analysis Directions:
- First, hook the tubing up with the pump.
- Then, screw the sample bottle onto the pump.
- Remove the oil dipstick and place the tubing into the dipstick tube.
- Begin to pump.
- Unscrew the bottle when it is almost full to release the pressure and stop the flow.
- Complete the paperwork and mail it in.

Oil Sampling Pump & instruction Sheet

This pump is used in Conklin’s oil analysis kit, which helps extend oil change intervals. The Oil Sampling Pump is an easy, convenient, consistent, and clean way to pull an oil sample. The Prepaid Oil Sample Bottle screws directly into the pump and the specialized plastic tubing (available by the foot) goes down the dipstick tube. Then the pump draws the sample.
While we suggest switching to Conklin’s Convoy engine oil, some individuals prefer to use their choice of engine oil and simply use TKO® Advanced Performance to add longevity to their engine…
Using TKO at short oil change intervals eliminates the need for testing your oil, but there is still much life in TKO even at 10,000 miles. However, regardless of how you choose to use TKO or even the Conklin engine oils (Convoy), your engine will thank you over the long run. While the following customer likely followed the manufacturer’s instructions and used the oil sampling kit, you can achieve the same results if you chose to change your engine oil at your regular preferred oil change intervals.
“Conklin products have been the foundation of my vehicle maintenance program. I’ve been using Conklin Vehicle Products exclusively since I bought my Suburban in 1994. With over 904,000 miles, it still runs like new. From Convoy Motor Oil and Gold Guard Plus to Fuel Conditioners and Appearance Products, I count on the longevity that Conklin products provide.” Ben W. Nebraska
